Advances in personal computer processing capabilities began to expand rapidly during the 1990’s. The founders of Signalscape, Inc. recognized that these technological changes could significantly improve the usability (or capability) of digital signal processing (DSP). While the mathematical underpinnings of DSP are universal, many current processing systems use architectural approaches developed decades earlier. The engineers at Signalscape brought together DSP technology with the increasing power of computers to develop a premier multimedia processing product line.

As the speed of computers increased, our engineers found that efficiently moving the data among filters and operators could achieve “real-time” processing in PC software without the use of hardware accelerator cards. This was a significant breakthrough since the primary markets served by Signalscape - law enforcement and security - require real-time processing for most applications. Signalscape conducted research and development for several US government agencies that needed DSP technology applied to their real-world problems. These advances were applied across a wide range of media in both the software and hardware products that Signalscape develops.

Signalscape is committed to meeting the DSP needs of the law enforcement and security markets with not only advanced technology, but also the technical expertise to solve their problems. Careful attention is given to insuring that all processing is done in a forensically correct manner to the point that Signalscape can defend the processing techniques in a court of law. Signalscape utilizes floating-point technology in the application of the DSP mathematics, resulting in more precise and accurate processing The technical approaches are designed to be forensically correct so that data is not arbitrarily discarded or modified, causing into question authenticity or evidence tampering.

Signalscape’s products, whether commercially available through the StarWitnessSM product line or through products and services developed specifically for customers by contract, provide the most advanced processing of analog and digital multimedia that is commercially available.
